Leahy and Huey on Unscientific Mask Mandates for Elementary Students, Suggest Recall for School Board Members

Live from Music Row Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the creator of the Huey Report, Craig Huey, in-studio to address the unscientific and harmful mask mandates for elementary students and suggest a law to recall school board members as transforming political movement nears.

Leahy: We are delighted to welcome to our microphones our very good friend, a California refugee and now a Williamson County resident, Craig Huey. Good morning, Craig.

Huey: Good morning, Michael. Yes, a proud California refugee. No regrets that I’m in Tennessee.

Leahy: We’re delighted to have you here. You did not bring this from California.

Huey: We did not. (Laughs)

Leahy: You did not bring this from California. In fact, from what I can tell, most Californians aren’t bringing left-wing lunacy with them.

Huey: They are not.

Leahy: They are escaping left-wing lunacy.

Huey: Exactly.

Leahy: And yet there’s some indigenous left-wing lunacy. Or not even indigenous – recently manufactured left-wing lunacy that was on full display Tuesday night at the Williamson County School Board meeting where they made a stupid, ridiculous antiscience decision.

Huey: Unbelievable.

Leahy: How stupid can you be?

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: They were that stupid.

Huey: They had stone faces. They heard the truth. They heard the science. They heard the data as to why it was a ridiculous mandate. And they just stared into space.

Leahy: Because they’re not that bright, but their political ideologies – Jason Golden, director of schools, I’m talking to you. Come on in and face the fire. Come and face the fire and let’s talk about how stupid you are, Jason Golden.

That’s not exactly what you might call a warm welcome.  But it’s a statement of fact, right? The guy’s stupid, or he’s deceptive because he’s – of all the stupid things you can do – requiring masks on elementary school students are probably the stupidest.

Huey: It’s so wrong. It’s child abuse, Michael. It’s child abuse to force kids to do this. If the kids of the parents want to do it voluntarily, fine. But it’s a parent’s choice. And for them to mandate it, there are health reasons.

There are psychological reasons. There are emotional reasons. You can’t learn that way. You can’t see people’s faces. This is child abuse.

Leahy: The kids are taking the masks on and off.

Huey: Viruses.

Leahy: All the bacteria and microbe build-up in the masks.

Huey: Carbon dioxide.

Leahy: More negative health effects on the kids. And there are zero positive effects. And for the 5,000th time, I will say it. There is no clinical medical study that shows wearing a cloth mask has any efficacy in stopping the spread of COVID-19. Hello! That’s the science!

Huey: And the CDC refuses to do a study because they know that’s not going to prove that masks work. They know it’s going to be what past studies have shown: that it is ineffective. And that’s the science. That’s the data.

Leahy: Yes, it is. And that’s very stupid director of schools, Jason Golden. Jason, call in. 615-737-9522.

Huey: It would be great to have Jason explain himself because what I have discovered is most of these superintendents of schools, people who are the administrators, you’ve got the unions kind of controlling the school boards.

And these people who are part of the administration, they’re part of that school union mentality of left-wing progressive, pro-socialist, we’re going to transform America by transforming the kids. And this mask is a political statement of fear. Putting fear in the lives of these kids.

Leahy: The other thing you got to ask yourself, why would you take children who you want to be educated and put them in the hands of anti-science, stupid people?

Huey: It just doesn’t make sense.

Leahy: It doesn’t make sense. And we talk about when people look at K-12 public education here in Tennessee, there are 95 counties in Tennessee. And there are like 130 school districts.

And of those 130, everybody says the Williamson County school system is the best school system out there. That may be a true fact, but there is another true fact. That’s the lowest bar of the low. (Huey chuckles) Right?

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: They may be better than all the very awful school systems in Tennessee, but they’re still not up to the task. We’ll look at their actual performance. I’m talking about teaching kindergarteners and first graders and second graders. I’m talking about the Williamson County school system and its ability to teach the basics. They’re underperforming.

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: They are underperforming dramatically.

Huey: Take a look at private education, take a look at homeschooling, and the superior outcome of those versus a government-run school.

And that’s the problem. It’s a government-run school. It doesn’t have competition. It doesn’t have accountability. The teaching schools have taught teachers Critical Race Theory.

Leahy: Critical Race Theory and how to be stupid in five easy lessons.

Huey: That what the teachers are taught. That’s what they’re taught. Whether they know it or not, they have been indoctrinated with this. Now they’re teaching the kids.

Leahy: I would like – at any public school educator out there if you’re listening in Williamson County, the administrators. I want the administrators to call in from Williamson County, Davidson County, Wilson County, anybody within the sound of my voice.

If you are a public school administrator and your school system has imposed these ridiculous mask mandates, I want you to call in right now, 615-737-9522, and tell me why parents should send kids to your school system when you have demonstrated that you are either stupid or deceptive.

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: Williamson County School. Adrienne Battle’s Metro Nashville. Jason Golden. Give me a call. Defend yourself because you’re indefensible. That’s my view.

Huey: I feel sorry for the kids. I feel sorry for what’s happening. But the fact is something good is going to come out of this. The parents’ uprising, number one. And number two, as a California refugee, people here are in a bubble. What they need to have here in Tennessee is school choice before it’s too late.

Leahy: Yeah, I think what’s about to happen and I’ve heard many people talk about this and we are on the cusp. We are on the cusp, Craig, of a fundamental transforming movement.

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: And moms of kids in the suburbs …

Huey: Oh my goodness.

Leahy: Going to these awful, terrible K-12 public school indoctrination centers where their kids aren’t learning how to read and write and do arithmetic. But they are being subjected to left-wing anti-American propaganda. The moms are not happy.

Huey: No.

Leahy: We’ve got the Moms for Liberty Group here in Williamson County and in Davidson County to some extent. And I think we’re about to see a huge political movement.

Huey: I think it goes with the moms, who had never been really active before. I think it’s also going with the grandparents. I think it’s also going with the students. I think it’s going with the taxpayers. I think there is a groundswell of disgust, a revolt that’s going to be of historic proportions.

Leahy: Well, and we saw that. And it was very interesting because it got national coverage. We saw that at this Tuesday night Williamson County school board meeting. There were about a thousand people who were there.

Huey: Amazing!

Leahy: And Clay Travis delivered just a spectacular one-minute summary of why masks are not effective, and that the school board was making a huge error by mandating those masks for elementary school.

Huey: I can tell you what I would see normally on something like this, Michael. And that is these parents would be doing a recall of these school board members. Have you heard if this is going on?

Leahy: I don’t know and that’s a good question. I’ve got to look at it. I don’t think that there is a provision in the Tennessee state constitution for the recall of school board members.

Huey: Wow! That’s terrible.

Leahy: Although now that you mention it, Craig, our good friend Speaker of the House Cam Sexton has asked the governor to hold a special session of the Tennessee General Assembly. I don’t know what the governor will do.

A lot of sources tell me, oh, yeah, he’s going to do it.

I’m skeptical because I don’t think Governor Lee knows where he stands on anything really. He’s for it. He’s against it. He said things on both sides.

And then I think he’s also probably listening to the Lieutenant Governor McNally, who I don’t think wants a special session. And so there are a lot of forces there. But if the governor does the right thing, which I hope he will do, and if he does it, I will publicly praise him for it.

Because I know he’s hanging on my every word. He’s just dying for my praise. (Huey chuckles) I know that to be true. But I think they ought to look at possibly being able to recall school boards.

Huey: Yes.

Leahy: What do you think?

Huey: 100 percent.

The science: It has been well known since the failure of masks to quell the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918 that such masking cannot stop the spread of human respiratory viruses. At least a dozen, well controlled, randomized studies since then have shown this.

There have been very few studies, since the mask mandates, attempting to support mask mandates. These studies are either ecological, comparing locations with/without masks, or mechanistic, putting a mask on a dummy in a lab, spraying it with droplets and measuring what happens.

The problems are that ecological studies are sensitive to endpoint selection. Select your endpoints to get the conclusion you want. The mechanistic studies on the other hand have studied droplet sizes FAR larger than is appropriate. Again, delivering a result inapplicable to the aerosols with which we’re dealing. Very weak science compared to the studies that had been done prior in the century.

    The mask mandates are nonsense.
